This piece by Benjamin Lowder, titled “H.O.M.E. is Where the Heart is” is made from remixed vintage metal signage. It was created for the benefit of H.O.M.E., the House of Miles ESTL, which is the nonprofit organization that manages Miles Davis’ historic childhood home in East St Louis. 50% of the proceeds from the sale of this piece goes to the House of Miles East St. Louis. The organization known as H.O.M.E. does much more than just preserve this important historic site, they’ve also created an array of love based cultural enrichment programs for the children of the East St Louis, connecting them to music, organic gardening and more. This piece of artwork is made from transformed cultural artifacts and echoes H.O.M.E.’s efforts in East St Louis to transform their community from the heart. The reclaimed metal signage in this piece was source on the Mississippi River near East St. Louis.
