KOOL KOOR solo show at Cherokee Street Gallery
Charles (Kool Koor) Hargrove, was born in New York in 1963. He established himself as a distinguished artist in the newly emerging South Bronx graffiti art scene. He landed his first show at the age of 16 at the landmark gallery, Fashion Moda. His reputation as an exciting young artist brought him into the East Village and the Soho artistic scene where he befriended fellow artists Jean Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Kool Koor is considered to be one of the most influential and authentic urban artists who's work helped to define the original NYC urban art scene. His work seamlessly flows from space-age surrealism to deconstructed calligraphy forms. Kool Koor's style is immediately recognizable and stands out as a clear and unique voice.
